Las Perlas Archipélago

This group of 220 islands, only a dozen or so inhabited, is conveniently located, starting only 30 miles away from Panama City. Many beautiful beaches, swaying palm trees - the stuff of travel magazines. The u.w.-visibility varies a lot and can be as bad as 5 meters and as good as 25 meters. If it's bad, one has to move further away from the mainland were it usually improves. Lots of fish as always here and occasionally even bigger ones such as white tip reef sharks, nurse sharks and mantas. Interesting u.w. rock formation, caverns etc. too. Mostly easy diving, depth rarely over 20 meters and lots of protected anchorage. So it's great for the less experienced or less seaworthy participants, or if you don't have much time. The Las Perlas Archipelago is also a very nice place for an island vacation. |
