Malpelo/Coiba Trip

Crossings:
Moderate winds against us on the way to Malpelo, flat calm on the way back
Weather:
Mostly calm and sunny in Panama waters. Two days of strong north east winds in Malpelo, later moderating. Hardly any rain.
Dive Conditions:
Coiba: Mostly 20 to 30 meters visibility and 28 degrees surface temperature.
Malpelo: 20 to 40 meters vis, first strong currents, later weakening. Surface temperature mostly 26 degrees with a strong, 18 degrees cold thermocline.
Highlights:
Many Eagle Rays, Jacks and Whitetip Reefsharks around Coiba. Schools of hammerheads on nearly every dive in Malpelo with up to 1000 sharks per dive. Whaleshark at the Ferreteria. Several Silky Shark encounters.
